Wind energy in the world
Global installed wind power capacity has 1,136 GW, of which 1,052.3 GW came from onshore installations and 83.20 GW from offshore. In 2024 were added 113.23 GW of new capacity: 108.05 GW from onshore projects and 5.18 GW from offshore wind. This was the highest year ever for onshore wind installations, surpassing the 105.8 GW recorded in 2023. Actually there are 80 countries with more than 100 MW of installed wind capacity. For offshore wind, 2024 ranked as the third-best year in terms of new capacity installed.
In the first quarter of 2026, we will report on the figures from 2025.
